Advanced Windows Recovery Technique When You are Unable to Boot Windows XP

The boot loader named as NTLDR needs minimum two files for its execution. One is NTLDR that includes the main boot loader and second is 'boot.ini', which includes the configuration options. Without the help of these two files, loading of the operating system cannot be done effectively. This boot loader is used by various operating systems, such as Windows NT, Windows XP and Server 2003. Any issue, related to the above stated files of NTLDR does not allow Windows to boot any further and thus, results in data inaccessibility. In order to overcome such situations, you can look for some efficient third party Windows data recovery tool to recover back the lost data.

To further clarify the above issue, let us consider a practical scenario, wherein an error message gets received when you restarted Windows XP based system. The error message that you got can be read as below:

“NTLDR is compressed. Press CTRL-ALT-DEL to restart”

After the occurrence of above error message, Windows data cannot be accessed as you are unable to boot into Windows.

Cause:
You received the above error message because of the fact that the attributes of the Windows boot files may have some issues, like 'NTLDR corruption'.

Solution:
In order to resolve the above error and to recover Windows, you have to follow the below steps:
1.Start the system with the Recovery Console.
2.Type 1 and hit the Enter Key when the recovery console prompts you to select a Windows install.
3.Give the correct Administrator password, when asked.
4.Type the below stated commands and press Enter after each command:
        cd \
        attrib -c c:\ntldr
        exit

After executing all the above steps, If you are still unsuccessful solving the issues related to NTLDR corruption, then reinstall the Windows operating system once again. But, the re-installation process will erase all the data from the media and you need to restore the data from any recent valid backup. In case, a valid backup is not available, it is better to go for a commercial Windows recovery tool for a successful recovery process. In the current market, there are several tools available to recover Windows, from which you can select a good one to successfully fix the data inaccessibility problem.
